The first time I hypnotized a stranger

It began at university, watching a hypnotist perform something I couldn’t explain. I dismissed it as a hoax for years. Then I read Plastic Reality — my heartbeat climbing with every page, because I knew that the moment I finished it I must go and test it out in reality, on strangers, since that’s the only way it works.

Practicing it taught me why it works: hypnosis holds only because the subject believes it does. A hand gets stuck because the person identifies with the idea — the subconscious accepts it, and it becomes real. A belief becomes a limitation.

More to come — the full story of that first night.
